Smoky Mountain Brewery was born 20 years ago when Calhoun’s opened its Bearden Hill location and decided to start brewing its own beer on-site. The wildly popular Helles quickly developed a following all its own and outgrew the constraints of East Tennessee’s best-known rib restaurant. Today, in addition to the eight local Calhoun’s Restaurants, there are four stand-alone Smoky Mountain Brewery locations which offer the “Taste of Tennessee” in a bottle.
Smoky Mountain Brewery serves six “mainstay beers” and a dark ale that are always on the menu (Mountain Light, Helles, Cherokee Red Ale, Black Bear Ale, Appalachian Pale Ale and Windy Gap Wheat). Another four seasonal brews are available at different times throughout the year and a “Brewmaster Special” that changes regularly is served at all times. Smoky Mountain Brewery beers are offered at all of the Copper Cellar Family of Restaurants including Smoky Mountain Brewery, Calhoun’s, Copper Cellar, Chesapeake’s, Cappuccino’s and Cherokee Grill.
